Mature Brides DIY Make Up Tips

If you cannot affords the services of a good Make Up Artist or you wish to do your own Make up, then here are some tips to get the look you want.

As a mature bride you may be wondering how to look your best on your wedding day, to enhance your beauty and not to look overdone. Careful advice and an updated make-up look may be all that you need to give you that extra boost of confidence.

Accept the way you look NOW and forget about how you used to look, or who you want to look like – make the most of your natural beautiful features and you will get the outcome you desire most.

if you need a little one to one advice then head to your nearest department store beauty counters and get some help. pick the girl (not the brand) who is similar age to you. she will be alot more knowledgable about maturer skin. Don't be scared to speak to them. I used to be one of them! 99% of them are lovely and will give you as much as advice as they can.

Face

Avoid using thick foundations it will only enhance the fine lines on your face. Light satin finish liquid foundations work best. Chanel Vitalumiere is a great Foundation and so is Bobbi Browns Tinted Moisturising Balm.

Try and avoid foundations that contain an SPF for the big day as the camera will pick up the SPF as it creates a ghostly whitish look to the skin.

Buffing foundation into the skin instead of applying with a foundation brush will diminish pores and fine lines. Real techniques do a great brush for this. They have named it their “face brush”.

Apply a foundation primer before you begin with your application, Laura Mercers radiating primer is great for mature skin. Primers provide a smooth surface for a blended application of foundation. The base that primers provide also reduce the more textured appearance that a mature skin has.

Concealer is used to freshen your under eye and eye lid and cover blemishes, broken veins or redness  – a great concealer is Bobbi Brown’s creamy Concealer. It gives enough coverage, but doesn’t sink into fine lines. I also love Mac Select Cover Up, but this needs to be buffed into the skin with a large fluffy eye shadow brush. Real Techniques do a great one it’s called a domed shadow brush.

Opt to wear a loose powder over your foundation. Loose powder reduces the shine on the skin. Shine attracts light to the lines on your face and this illuminates them. A matte face is a fresher younger looking face. Do not use compact powder – they provide a heavy layer to the skin and you will look older. A great Loose Powder is Laura Mercers Translucent powder.

Use a matte peachy or pinkie blusher on the apple of your cheeks to ‘lift your pallor’. You will also be able to use a brighter lipstick shade as the blusher will stop the brighter shade being so dramatic.

Eyes

Use waterproof mascara and keep the focus of the mascara on your top eye lashes for as much up ward lifting illusion as possible. L’Oreal Million lashes in black is perfect. Always use black mascara for your wedding day as this will create a frame to your eyes that brown mascara can never do.

Never wear one shade of eye shadow from your eyelashes until your eyebrows. You need to use light and dark shades in the correct place to create a more youthful appearance around the eyes. Try a lighter shade on the inner corners of your eye and under your brow. A medium shade on your lid and slightly darker shade along the outer corner of your eye.

Using matte eye shadows creates a better illusion on maturing eyes. Shimmery eye shadow draws attention to fine lines on the eyes. Also if you have a hooded eye, don’t use dark eyeshadow in the crease, this will only exaggerate the hood and make the eyes bulge.

On younger eyes fashionable, trendy colours look fun, but on ageing eyes, very colourful shadows look out of place and make the eyes look older. Try and keep to a neural palette of browns, pinks and greys.

Lips

If you have small lips, go brighter or lighter rather than darker. Darker will make your lips look smaller and will make your face look hard. A little lipgloss in the centre of your bottom lip will also give the illusion of a fuller lip.

Never go for frosted lipsticks as these will drain the colour from your face. Use satin or sheer finishes as these will work best.

Never mix warm shades and cool shades on your face. For example you should not mix a pinkie lipstick shade with a peachy eye shadow shade. Opposites don’t balance on the face. If your lipstick is pink so should your blusher be.

Don’t hide behind your make-up. Family and wedding guests should see you before they see your make-up. Opt for a fresh make-up look, rather than an over applied mask.

I hope this is useful but I am always here for any advice so please leave a question or comment or visit my facebook page at www.facebook.com/herefordbridalbeauty for more make up tips and tricks and further advice.
